Learn to Knit a Sweater with Pat Watson
Sweater fits an American Girl Doll or 18" bear/stuffed animal.
Students will learn shaping, seaming, picking up stitches and three needle bind off as well as optional basic cabling and sewing on buttons. Students should already be familiar with how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off.

US #8 needles, straight or 16" circular and a set double pointed (or size needed for gauge, see below)
Stitch markers (6), Stitch holders (2-3), Tapestry needle
Worsted weight yarn - 200 yards
For cardigan: 5 buttons and optional cable needle

Homework to complete before class: Check your gauge!
Knit an 18 stitch swatch in stockinette (K 1 row, P 1 row) on US #8 needles.
If your piece measures 4" wide, stick with the #8 needles.
If your piece measures smaller than 4" wide, go up a needle size and check again.
If your piece measures more than 4" wide, go down a needle size and check again.
